Pornography Position Statement

I believe that pornography is one of Satan’s deadliest weapons.  It has destroyed millions of people and families.  Once it gets inside of you, it’s there, stored in your brain, waiting to attack with its evil images and un-pure thoughts.  The best way to avoid its harmful influences is to never indulge in the first place.  It will become an addiction to you.  The Spirit will warn you once you are nearing spiritual danger and its best to heed those warnings right away.  I will treat pornography as a deadly plague and avoid it at all costs because I know that’s exactly what it is to my spirit.

Agency Position Statement

   Agency is truly a gift from God.  It was the subject of the war in heaven.  If we had agency, we would be subject to pain and suffering.  But without it, we would not ever be able to learn for ourselves and we would know no joy because we would have nothing to compare it to.  I am so grateful that the two-thirds of us who chose the Savior’s plan to have agency won that war in heaven.  I am so grateful for agency.  My sincere desire it use my agency righteously and in a way that is pleasing to my Heavenly Father.  I know that I am always free to choose but not free to choose the consequences so I plan on making the best choices I can so I will have desirable consequences.

Atonement Position Statement

Words cannot even come close to describing my gratitude for the Atonement of my Savior Jesus Christ.  I have been so blessed by the Atonement as I have made mistakes, repented, and because of the Atonement, forgiven and given chance after chance to do better.  I have experienced the blessings of the Atonement as I have received comfort and strength beyond my own understanding at times of trial and affliction in my life.  I know that without the grace of God offered through the Atonement I would be completely and utterly lost, without hope, desolate.  I will forever be grateful for the gift of the Atonement in my life as well as in the life of those I love.

Family Position Statement

I have a very strong testimony about the role of family as the best way to help us prepare for eternal life as well as its purpose to provide us with the most joy we could ever experience.  What stood out to me from the quotes I chose what just how vital of a role the parents play in raising righteous children.  First and foremost we need to have the Savior as the central role of our family.  We need to have strong marriages as a foundation in our families.  We need to value our children and it is our responsibility to raise our children righteously by setting good examples, ensuring that we have family prayer, scripture study and family home evening.  I know as I strive to lead my family in this way we will be blessed with peace and the blessing to live together eternally as a family.
