Atonement Position Statement

Words cannot even come close to describing my gratitude for the Atonement of my Savior Jesus Christ.  I have been so blessed by the Atonement as I have made mistakes, repented, and because of the Atonement, forgiven and given chance after chance to do better.  I have experienced the blessings of the Atonement as I have received comfort and strength beyond my own understanding at times of trial and affliction in my life.  I know that without the grace of God offered through the Atonement I would be completely and utterly lost, without hope, desolate.  I will forever be grateful for the gift of the Atonement in my life as well as in the life of those I love.

"The Savior's suffering in Gethsemane and His agony on the cross redeem us from sin by satisfying the demands that justice has upon us.  He extends mercy and pardons those who repent.  The Atonement also satisfies the debt justice owes to us by healing and compensating us for any suffering we innocently endure.  'For behold, he suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, ,and children, who belong to the family of Adam' (2 Nephi 9:21; see also Alma 7:11-12)."

"... 'God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.'  That act was a supernal manifestation of God's love.
